The mission of the Alpha & Omega Society, Inc. (AOS) is to facilitate the successful transition of women and girls from the criminal justice system back into the society by mobilizing community, service and faith-based organizations
ABOUT US
To initiate innovative, organic, and effective experiences that provide a physical and spiritual sanctuary for women in transition and those that accompany them to develop as productive members of the community.
To provide a setting for people of faith to embody their faith by working together, serving others, and advocating for women in transition.
To identity a network of community resources available to meet the targeted needs of the participants
To foster an environment in which everyone who becomes a part of this community experiences the life changing effect of God's action in and through them.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Rev. Dr. Anika A. Jones is called by God to help bring about spiritual, physical, and mental healing to persons and communities that are marginalized in our society, particularly those impacted by the criminal justice system. Anika has served for more than 15 years to raise awareness and provide support for persons and families impacted by incarceration. As an advocate of lifelong learning, Anika has also spent the last 40+ years working with “non-traditional students” from pre-school through adult education. She served as the original Connections Pastor at Impact Church in Atlanta, GA to promote the connection of the congregation with God and the community.
Anika is an ordained Deacon in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church, and holds M.Div. and Th.M. degrees from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, an Ed.D. in Mental Health Administration from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
