WHY?

 NATIONAL CRISIS!

 HIGHEST RATE OF INCARCERATION

 ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

There is a crisis in our communities!  The United States has the highest rate of incarceration of all countries in the world. According to a report by the Pew Foundation, one in thirteen Georgians is under some form of supervision of the correctional system, including prison, jail, probation or parole. The crisis of mass incarceration has been documented in ground breaking research conducted by Michelle Alexander and published in

The New Jim Crow.

Even though women comprise a small percentage of the prison population, 95% of these women are mothers, and therefore the lives of thousands of children are impacted by their incarceration and return to society.

Call to Action: Where is the Faith Community?

Most people of faith acknowledge spiritual mandates to support previously incarcerated persons returning to the community.  Join the national movement to end mass incarceration and form Healing Communities that care for persons and families impacted by incarceration.

THE CHALLENGE

If you want to learn more or help us get the word out, consider hosting an information session at your faith community.  We will bring information to share what is happening and opportunities to get involved.
